Drive-over LED on-ground luminaires

For installation on ground level for illuminating ground surfaces

The construction principle of these luminaires provides a solution for numerous lighting applications on large-area ground surfaces. The significantly lower installation costs compared to recessed luminaires, and the different installation variations, reduce the overall installation costs and offer a high degree of flexibility. The luminaires are simply fixed to the substrate with a mounting plate. Just one core hole needs to be drilled by the customer for the cable to pass through.

The luminaires are simply connected with their connecting cable to any commercially available sleeves or to the BEGA distribution box 70 730. To meet the different requirements at the installation site, we offer an anchorage unit or connection housing as an accessory. They must be ordered separately. The luminaires can thus be installed in loose substrates such as sand or gravel.

Depending on the substrate‘s load-bearing capability, the luminaires can support a load of up to 1000 kg and withstand vehicles with pneumatic tyres. The luminaires must not be used in areas exposed to horizontal loads caused by braking, accelerating and changes of direction.

The luminaire luminous flux and the luminaire connected wattage quoted in the table might change as a result of technical progress. On our website you will find data sheets with information on each luminaire concerning not only the current values but also the LED service life and the luminous flux in relation to the respective colour temperature.

Planning examples

On the basis of our empirical values and the suggestions of architects and planners, we have compiled room situations for which lighting design is frequently required. In the following, we shall present possible illumination solutions for these architectural situations. It goes without saying that all technical lighting standards are complied with. In some cases, the degree of illuminance proposed by us may even exceed the standard. For us, the aesthetics of light and a high level of visual comfort are important criteria for such decisions. At the same time, the form and the size of the luminaires must fit into the architectural surroundings. For example, we often recommend larger models if a structure has large dimensions – even if smaller luminaires with lower output would be enough. In such cases, the degree of illuminance can be reduced to a suitable level by means of a light control system.

Electrical safety

The luminaires in this catalogue are designed and produced on the basis of the EN 60598/VDE 0711 standards. The majority of the luminaires bear the relevant test mark on the type plate as well as on the packaging and instructions for use. The other luminaires have been or will be submitted for certification, but the certification and approval procedure is still in progress. We can provide information on the status of the certification procedure at any time. Special orders are produced in accordance with the above set of regulations.
